Trio to WIA at Gallipoli and then KIA in Belgium: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 200 Pte W.A.Cherry. 12/Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, 200 Sgt. W.A.Cherry. 12-Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted, good very fine.
Together with a WWI Memorial Plaque named to William Archibald Cherry.
William Archibald Cherry, farm labourer, age 21, born at Springfield, Scottsdale, Dorset, England; Enl.22Aug1914 at Brighton, Tas, in 12Bn, with 3 1/2 years in 92 Infy and still serving; Emb.20Oct1914; to join MEF 02Mar1915; WIA SW knee 03Sep1915, Gallipoli; to France 05Sep1916; to Cpl 10Apr1917; to Sgt 01Jun1917; KIA 07Oct1917 Belgium; Buried at The Buttes New British Cemetery, Polygon Wood, Zonnebeke near Ypres, Belgium.
