Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 2 reverse), three clasps - Cape Colony, Rhodesia, South Africa 1901. 499 Tpr: R.W.Taylor, Victorian M.R. Impressed. A few contact marks, otherwise very fine.
Ex Hibbard Collection.
Medal roll shows that first two medal clasps were returned to authorities and re-issued to R.W.Taylor at Customs House, Durban, Natal on 15 March 1911.
Robert William Taylor, farmer, born 21Sep1875 at Sandridge, Vic; Enl.Apr1900 and to camp at Langwarrin; Emb.01May1900 with 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen Contingent; Disemb.23May1900 at Beira; arrived at Marandellas 11Jul1900 and ops at Rhodesia to Bulawayo on Lines of Communication protection; Ops at Cape Colony from Dec1900 including Matjesfontein patrols and after near Orange River and Colesberg; RTA 22Jun1901; Disemb.12Jul1901 at Melbourne, Vic; Disch.31Jul1901; Died in 1944 at Melbourne, Vic.
