Corinthia, Corinth, Tiberius, (14-37 A.D.), AE as, 21mm (6.68 g), L. Rutilius Plancus and A. Vatronius Labeo, duoviri, struck A.D. 12/13 - 15/16, obv. laureate head of Tiberius left, traces of legend around, rev. Pegasos to right, COR between legs, legend around. (cf.S.262, BCD 368 [Lanz Sale 105], Amandry type XIV49, obv, ee1, rev. IIIa10 [p.163], SNG Cop.217, RPC 1145). Good fine, very rare.
Ex BCD Collection, from CNG Triton Sale VIII, January 12, 2005 (lot 2004 part), previously from Chris Martin December 1983, magistrate names appear on both sides of the coin, very rare according to Amandry for these dies. Lot includes BCD tickets and several photographs of the coin, together with descriptive detail in a flip.
