Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochos I Soter, (280-261 B.C.) Tetradrachm, 29mm, (16.54 g), Seleukeia on the Tigris mint, obv. diademed head right, rev. **BASILEWS* on right and AN-TIOXOY on left downwards, Apollo, nude but for drapery around waist, testing arrow in extended right hand, and placing left hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos, monograms to outer left and right, (cf.S.6866, SC 379.6b; ESM 170, HGC 9, 128g). Bright, good fine well centred, rare.
Ex "Seleucid Hoard" 2003, from Freeman & Sear, December 2003, with their ticket.
Very few are known with these monograms.
