Royal Academy Antique School 1768, student's admission token in ivory for Marjory Violet Watherston, Admitted 1st Term of 3 Years, 31st July, 1900 and Renewed 2nd Term of 2 Years, July, 1903. Good very fine.
Miss Marjory Violet Watherston, 1882-1969, was a Royal Academy School student from 31 July 1900 to July 1905. She was a painter in various media of landscapes, figures and portraits. She studied art in Paris and at the Royal Academy School. She was the sister of another artist, Evelyn Watherston. Her works have exhibited widely and the Imperial War Museum holds one of her works, The Dispatch: The Captain's Dugout, depicting a WWI war scene. Her father was a London jeweller and holder of a Royal Warrant for service to the royal family.
