Cnut, (1016-1035), silver penny, quatrefoil type, Thetford Mint, issued 1017-1023, moneyer Sumarlithr, (1.08 g), obv. crowned bust left within well defined quatrefoil, single band to crown with three trefoils above, two vertical folds to drapery, +CNVT REX ANGLORVI around, rev. long cross voided on quatrefoil with pellet at apex of each cusp, each limb terminating in three crescents, dividing +SV MRL EDMO DEOD around, (S.1157, N.781, BMC viii). Toned, good very fine and scarce.
