Aethelred II, (978-1016), silver penny, intermediate small cross / crux type mule, Winchester Mint, moneyer Beorhtmaer, (1.63 g), obv. diademed bust left, six horizontal folds to drapery, no sceptre, within inner circle, +AEDELRAED REX ANGLORX (NG and ORX ligated) around, rev. short voided cross with C R V X in angles within inner circle, +BYRHTMAER M-O _IN around, (S.1150/48, N.773-770, BMC i/iiia). Toned, peck marked and crimped, nearly very fine and very rare.
