Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 3 reverse), - clasp - Transvaal. 1827 Tpr: A.R.Bradford. Kitchener's F.S. Impressed. Hairlines and light contact marks, otherwise very fine.
Arthur Reginald 'Redmond' Bradford, age 23, born at Sydney, NSW; father - J.T. Bradford, solicitor, Barraba, NSW; Enl.27Jan1901 at Durban, Sth Africa, in 1st Regiment of Kitchener's Fighting Scouts; Disch.01Jul1902 on disbandment of unit at Pietermaritzburg, Sth Africa.^^Kitchener's Fighting Scouts were established in December 1900 under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Johan Wilhelm Colenbrander who had been Cecil Rhodes' guide into Rhodesia. The Scouts reputation as hard riding, ferocious opponents made them much feared. No other unit had a finer record for the capture of convoys and taking prisoners. ^^With copy of Attestation form.
