Gympie A.M&P. (Agricultural, Mining & Pastoral) Society, prize cup in silver (approx 14cm high x 6.5cm diameter), elaborately engraved and inscribed on one side, 'Gympie A.M&P. Society/Champion Blood Horse,/Special Prize,Awarded to/R.S.Lord's/"Charlton."/1st Annual Show, Oct.1877.' A few small dents in cup, otherwise good very fine.

Robert Stuart Lord, born 22 April 1844 at 'Bonnavista', Avoca, Tasmania; Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly; in 1870 appointed Magistrate of the Territory in Ravenswood, Queensland; in 1871 appointed as one of the Trustees of the Racecourse Reserve in Gympie, Queensland; represented the electoral district of Gympie from 7 November 1873 to 9 March 1877; Died 23July 1878 at Gympie, Queensland.^^Note: In Australian Agricultural Show Medals and Awards 1822-c1910 by Hugh Armstrong and Les Carlisle it states that Gympie held its first show in June 1878. It appears that this was in fact the second show as the above precedes it by several months.
