National Rifle Association Of New South Wales, School Shield, 1924, in sterling silver (26mm), by W.H.P., ring top suspension, obverse inscribed, 'C.W.Barnes'. Nearly uncirculated.

In this annual competition, Sydney Grammar School (SGS) and Sydney Church of England Grammar School (SCEGS) dead heated but in the shoot-off SGS scored 12 bulls-eyes to their opponents ten. For the first time since this match was inaugurated, the long-barrel rifle was discarded and the short arm, with open sights and without slings, as used by the New South Wales Citizens' Forces, was utilised. C.W.Barnes was a member of the 8-boy winning team. Of the other competitors, the King's School finished third and Newington College came fourth.
