SX4439 C.W.Sparkes on first six medals, SX4439 Capt (T/Maj) C.W.Sparkes. A.I.F on last medal. First six medals impressed, last medal engraved. The last medal toned, otherwise extremely fine - uncirculated.

Cecil William Sparkes, born 24Aug1904 at Karachi, India; Enl.06Jun1940 at Keswick, Sth Aust; Disch.13Jun1946 as Captain ex 11 Aust Div Provost Corps AIF; Died while serving as a Sergeant Instructor with South Australian Police on Friday 19 January 1951 when fighting a bushfire in a steep gully near Upper Sturt in South Australia along with two other police officers who were also killed.
