Pair: British War Medal 1914-18; Royal Naval Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVR). D.Dean. C.P.O. R.A.N.B. on first medal, D.Dean. C.P.O. on second medal. First medal impressed, second medal engraved; also Volunteered For Active Service, Retained For Home Service badge issued by the Navy Department, by Stokes & Sons, Melb, lug back, reverse numbered 372. Good very fine, the badge rare.
Together with N.Q.R.A (North Queensland Rifle Association), 1924, uniface prize medal in silver (50mm), by W.Kerr, reverse inscribed, ' "B" Series Aggregate/Won by/D.Dean./Score 100.', with William Kerr box of issue.
The above shooting medal was won at the annual meeting of the N.Q.R.A. (North Queensland Rifle Association) held in early May 1924 at the Cluden Rifle Range, Townsville. Practically every club in North Queensland was represented and there were also competitors from as far south as Brisbane. The conditions were far from good but some excellent shooting was registered particularly in the B series with D.Dean winning the B grade aggregate with a score of 100 registered over the 200, 500 and 600 yards ranges.
