Recommendation by Brig-Gen H.E. 'Pompey' Elliott, Commanding 15th Infy Bde: During the period 22nd September to 25th February 1918, Corporal Marr has acted in the capacity of Transport N.C.O. His work often means long hours out but his devotion to duty has meant the successful completion of many important tasks entrusted to him, such as taking ammunition or special stores to the forward area. In an excellent manner he carried out his duties during the operations at Polygon Wood, East of Ypres, September and October 1917, when he was charged with the duty of getting supplies through congested traffic and enemy shelling. In addition to this, he often was detailed to get through special ammunition or stores, and R.E. materials to forward points as required. His trustworthiness has been of great help to the HQ side of the Brigade Staff during operations in the line, or on the move.
