British War Medal 1914-18. 986 Pte G.H.Blanshard. A.N. & M.E.F. Impressed. A few small edge bumps caused by impressed naming, some light hairlines, otherwise extremely fine.
Together with Returned Sailors Soldiers & Airmens' Imperial League Australia badge (KC), reverse numbered Q37188.
George Herbert Blanshard, clerk, age 32, born at Portobello, Edinburgh, Scotland; Enl.09Nov1915 at Sydney, NSW, in 4th Tropical Force, with previous service of one year with Queensland Volunteer Rifles and discharged at own request; Emb.20Nov1915; TOS Garrison of F Coy 4th Tropical Force, AN&MEF at Rabaul 20Nov1915; to Kokopo for duty and struck off Garrison 03Jan1916; returned from Kokopo and TOS Garrison 04May1916; to Kokopo for duty and struck off Garrison 05May1916; RTA and struck off the AN&MEF 12Feb1917; Disch.26Mar1917, possibly to care for his aged mother who subsequently passed away in August 1918; married 29Oct1919 at Nambour, Qld; went on to serve as a bank manager; Died in 1959 at Brisbane, Qld. British War Medal is sole entitlement.
