BEM: Supplement to LG 1/1/1972, p28, to Miss Elsie Mary Stanley for public service in Brisbane, State of Queensland.
ISM: LG 7/7/1972, p8160, to Miss Ellen Elizabeth Stanley, Typist-in-Charge Grade II, Fourth Division, Engineering Division, Postmaster-General's Department, Queensland.
Elsie Mary Stanley joined the Department of Public Instruction (later called the Education Department) in 1922. Then from 1934 until 1970 she was a member of the Premier's Department in the Queensland State Government, obviously a high achievement to retain such a position for 36 years.
Her sister, Ellen Elizabeth Stanley, formerly a student at All Hallow's School, Brisbane, joined the Commonwealth Public Service in 1926 as a female typist after coming seventh in admission examinations held in May of that year. Both sisters never married.
