Trajan, (A.D. 98-117), AE dupondius, issued 105, Rome mint, (13.46 g), obv. radiate bust draped on far shoulder to right of Trajan, around IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P, rev. Dacian seated left on shields in an attitude of mourning, with arms at base, trophy before her, around S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI, S C in exergue, (cf.S.3196, RIC 563, BMC 887, C.533); Hadrian, (117-138 A.D.), AE dupondius, issued 126 A.D., Rome Mint, (14.97 g), obv. laureate head of Hadrian to right, around HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, rev. COS III around, rev. Fides draped standing to right, holding corn ears and basket of fruit, (cf.S.3680 [for as], RIC II.3: 867, Stack 610, BMC 1322-3). Fine - very fine, scarce. (2)
The Hadrian coin does not have a radiate crown but instead is laureated, however the coin is known as a dupondius because of its higher weight. It has been published in several collections and in RIC.
