Description
Journal International d'Archeologie Numismatique (JIAN), Athens, Volumes VII-XII (1904-1910), XIV (1912), these all uniformly bound in blue cloth for each volume, volumes XV (1913), XVII (1915), XVIII (1916-7), XX (1920-1), XXI (1927), with original paper covers as issued, but partly disbound. An important part set, generally fine and rare. (13 volumes for 12 complete volume numbers)
Ex. Essex Institute Library with their bookplate for volumes VII to XIV, in part Ex. Capt. Spencer Churchill and all probably ex. E.S.G. Robinson and all ex. Bank Leu, Zurich sale 48, 10 May 1989 (lot 552 part, it also incomplete with a few a few extra volumes realised 4180 SFr.). A most important series that ran from volumes I to XXI (21 volumes in all), (from 1898-1927) and edited by edited by the great Greek numismatic scholar S.V. Svoronos (Director of the National Museum in Athens), all with dozens of articles in all languages all mostly Greek coins, many which are still the standard work on that subject, city or topic. Contains many hundreds of fine plates to go with the articles.
