Lot 2960

Sale 130 · Important Australian, British, World, and Ancient Coins, Banknotes, and Medals

Description

China, forgeries, silver one dollar (cf.K-642a, W-856), (26.92g) (39.02mm). This coin does not have the characteristics of a pattern and Giorgi's signature is a notch lower than on all of the certified examples sighted, it seems to have been struck with the same dies that were used for the business-strike dollar of this type, with Giorgi's signature simply added to the obverse die, toned nearly uncirculated.
