Description
1902 Proof Long Set Case, Edward VII, 1901-1910. S-PS9 Coronation. Long set (matt finish 13 coins) comprising Five Sovereigns to Maundy Penny. This is the first official proof set to include the Maundy which last appeared in the 1853 "from the engraver" set. Given the regular 3d and Maundy 3d have the same designs these coins are not duplicated here. Official red Moroccan leather presentation case, this includes a piece of "TarnO" tissue supplied by H.N. Smith described as reducing the risk of these coins being tarnished. Case with white silk and blue velvet interior, lid stamped in gold with the imperial crown between SPECIMEN COINS at top and 1902 at bottom. With very rare white carboard shipper box. Mintage 8,066 sets struck. No bronze or base metal coins were issued as part of these proof sets. Very fine.
