Description

1893 Short Proof Set Case - Silver coins only, Victoria, 1837-1901. S-PS8 Crown to Threepence (6 coins). Official dark red shagreen style leather covered timber presentation case. The case is smaller than the long set version in accord with the absence of the four gold coins. It shares the same stepped lid design and is stamped with the royal arms in gold leaf. The lid has an incuse perimeter line in the leather at the top of the step with a similar line but this time in gold at its base. The rectangular-shaped case is fitted with a brass push-button lock at the front. Inside comprises dark blue velvet roundels in a 3-3 pattern with white silk lining to the lid. Mintage 556 sets struck. Very fine and rare.
