Islamic, Ghaznavid, Mahmud b.Sebuktegin, (388-421 A.H.; A.D. 998-1030), gold dinar, (3.77 g), Ghazna mint, year 408 (A.D. 1017-1018), (A.1607, cf.SNA Tubingen 245, Wilkes 1703). Good very fine, scarce.

Ex CNG Sale 41, March 19, 1997 (lot 2680).

Coins were minted in Ghazna from 405-421. The gold alloy was generally rather good until about 408 and became increasingly pale thereafter.
