Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), silver antoninianus, Rome mint, (4.06 g), obv. radiate draped and cuirassed bust to right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. VIRTVTI AVGVSTI around. Hercules standing facing, head right, holding club and lion skin, (S.8670, RIC 95, RSC 404); Moesia Superior, Viminacium, Gordian III (A.D. 238-244), AE 30, (14.95 g), obv. laureate bust of Gordian III to right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. female figure standing between bull and lion, in exergue AN III, around P M S C OL VIM, (year 3 = 240-1), (cf.S.3642, SNG Cop.142); Julian II, AE centenionalis, (3.18 g), rev. VOT/X/MVLT/XX, in wreath, ALEB in exergue (S.19183, RIC 90-91); and a cast forgery of Egypt, Ptolemy II, Philadelphos, (285-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (8.73 g) (light weight), obv. head of Ptolemy I to right with aegis, rev. eagle to left on thunderbolt with closed wings, to left P above **PAR* monogram, around **PTOLEMAIOU BASILEWS*, (cf.S.7771). First coin toned, good very fine, others good - nearly fine. (4)
