Didia Clara (Daughter of Didius Julianus and Manlia Scantilla), (A.D. 193), sestertius, Rome mint, (18.53 g), obv. Didia Clara bust draped to right, around DIDIA CLA RA AV[G], rev. Hilaritas standing to left, holding long palm and cornucopiae, around [H]ILA R [TEMPOR], S C across, (S.6087, RIC 20, C.4). Black patina, good fine/fine, very rare, nice portrait.

The very rare issues of Didia Clara were produced in a two month period between April and May 193 A.D. Didia Clara and her mother were deprived of their inheritance by the new emperor Septimius Severus and retired into relative obscurity of private life, nothing further is known of them.
