Thessaly, Larissa (under Macedonian domination), (c.350-320 B.C.), silver didrachm, (12.12 g), obv. head of nymph Larissa three-quarter face to left, wearing plain necklace and drop pendant earring, rev. bridled horse trotting to right, tail upright and looped, above **LARI*, in exergue **[SAIWN]*, (cf.S.2119, cf.BCD 302 [same reverse die], BMC 55, SNG Cop. 119, See Leu 50 (25 April 1990) 131 (same dies); see also Egger XXXIX (15 January 1912) 269 = Sotheby's 13 June 1911, 165 = Sotheby's 24 February 1904, 47). Attractively toned, impressive portrait, extremely fine and a rare issue.
