Reg No.1112 Pte Charles Rowland Sherwin, station hand, age 19, born at Bobundara, about 15kms from Dalgety, in the NSW Snowy Mountains; Enl.13Feb1915 at Liverpool, NSW in Camel Corps, while a member of Dalgety Rifle Club; TOS 7 Regt at Gallipoli 25Oct1915; trf to 7LHR 24Apr1916; Trf to Imperial Camel Corps 08Sep1916; WIA 23Dec1916 GSW to legs and arteric veins, severe, at the Battle of Magdhaba in the Sinai; placed on dangerously ill list 30Dec1916; removed from dangerously ill list 08Jan1917; RTA 22Jan1917; Disch.03May1917 Medically Unfit; Charles Sherwin was deceased when the above medal was released so it was issued to his nearest next-of-kin, his son Mr L.Sherwin.
