J.23742, J.W.Murrant, A.B., R.N. on first medal, J.23742 J.W.Murrant. L.S. R.N. on second and third medals, fourth medal unnamed as issued, J.23742 J.W.Murrant. P.O. H.M.S.Vivid on last medal. All named medals impressed. Display mounted, contact marks, otherwise fine - very fine.
John William Murrant, errand boy, born 28Feb1897 at Camberwell, London, England; served in Royal Navy from 01Mar1913 as Boy 2; served on various ships including as an AB in the armoured cruiser HMS Duke of Edinburgh in the Battle of Jutland in May1916; awarded Long Service Medal as Petty Officer on HMS Vivid in 1927; he is recorded on the Jubilee Medal roll as D/J.23742 Chief Petty Officer John William Murrant; Died Apr1976 at Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.
