Ernest Edward Burgess, car greaser, born 31Dec1920 at Townsville, Qld; Enl.23Jun1941 at Townsville, Qld; after training with 26Bn trf to 15Bn in Dec1942; Emb.Jan1943 for Milne Bay; after much fighting including hand-to-hand combat the Bn took up positions in Lae; evacuated with malaria in Oct1944; trf to 47Bn on 29Nov1944 and embarked for Bouganville; trf to 16Bn 19Oct1945; returned to 15Bn Dec1945; RTA 25Jan1946; Disch.03Apr1946 as Private ex 15 Australian Infantry Battalion; Died Oct1999 at Townsville, Qld and was buried at Belgian Gardens, Townsville City, Qld.
