Pair to WIA: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 5314 Pte. W.A.Clifford. 21-Bn. A.I.F. Both medals impressed. Display mounted, contact marks, otherwise very fine.
Together with Rising Sun collar badges (KC) (2) in oxidised bronze; buttons for Australian Military Forces (2, medium and small), British Army General Service WWI (large), German WWI medium.
Walter Albert Clifford, engineer, age 34, born at Glasgow, Scotland; Enl.12Feb1916 at Melbourne, Vic; Emb.25Jul1916; to France 31Dec1916; WIA 03May1917 GSW right arm, at second Battle of Bullecourt, France; RTA 27Sep1917; Disch.01Feb1918; Died 16Nov1950 at Adelaide, Sth Aust and buried the next day at the AIF Cemetery West Terrace, Adelaide, Sth Aust. The funeral notice stated that he served in the Boer War and also First AIF.
