Ancient Roman AE issues, Claudius, (A.D. 41-54), AE As, Rome mint type, issued 42, (9.50 g), obv. bare head to left, around TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP P P, rev. Minerva to right, helmeted and draped, hurling javelin and holding shield, SC in field, (S.1862, RIC 116, BMC 206, C.84); another, Celtic copy of a Claudius, AE sestertius, issued 41-42, (18.37 g), rev. Spes advancing left holding flower, (cf.S.1853, cf.RIC 99); another Claudius, issued 42, (9.26 g), rev. LIBERTAS AVGVSTA, S C across, Libertas standing right, (S.1860, RIC 13, C.47) (illustrated); another AE quadrans, struck 42 A.D., (2.15 g), obv. modius, TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG, rev. SC with PON M TR P IMP P P COS II around, (S.1865, RIC 90, C.72). Mostly rough surfaces very good - nearly very fine. (4)
