Severus Alexander (A.D. 222 - 235), sestertius, struck at Rome in 231-235, (19.4 grams), obv. lauraete bust right, around IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, rev. Providentia standing facing head to left, holding two corn-ears over modius and cornucopiae, around PROVIDENTIA AVG S-C (S.2265, RIC 645, C.509) (illustrated); another, sestertius, Rome Mint (19.24g), obv. laureate bust right, around IMP SEV ALEXANDER AVG, rev. Sol nude raising right hand and holding whip in left, around PM TR P VIIII COS III PP S-C (RIC.300, Cohen 290). Full flan and legends, nearly very fine; surface corrosion, about fine. (2)
