Plautilla (wife of Caracalla), (c.A.D. 202-205), silver denarius, issued 203, (3.46 g), obv. draped bust of Plautilla to right, around PLAVTILLA AVGVSTA, rev. Pietas standing to right holding a child, around PIETAS AVGG, (S.7072, RIC 367, RSC 16). Large flan well centred, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection and CNG eSale 202, January 14, 2009, (lot 376), coming from the White Mountain Collection.
The Reka Devnia hoard of 81,044 silver coins contained 507 coins of Plautilla and 113 coins of this variety.
