France, Navarre, Henry III, (1572-1610), silver demi franc, (6.81 g), issued 1577 at the Saint Palais mint, obv. HENRICVS. II. D. G. REX. NAVARRE, large bust of Henri III of Navarre laureate and cuirassed on the right with the small embossed collar, the armor adorned with a lion-shaped mascaron; under the bust a small shield of Navarre; rev. double struck GRATIA. DEI. SVM. ID. Q. SVM. 1577, crowned shield with multiple quarters, cutting off the legend at the top, (Boudeau 599, Poey d'Avant 3482) (illustrated); another billon liard, Henry III, (0.63 g), Pau mint, (Boudeau 617); Nevers, William IV (1161-1168), (0.67 g), obv. G M S in field, around COMES GIILEMIO. rev. short cross pattee around, NIIERNIS CIIISI, (Pd'A. 2130 var.; Boudeau 341); another Mahaut II, (1249-1262), (1.01 g), obv. horizontal bar, lis above and two stars below, around ?M?
