Commodus, (A.D. 177-192), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 185, (22.38 g), obv. laureate head of Commodus to right, around M COMMODVS ANT ON AVG PIVS BRIT, rev. around VOTA SVSCEP DECEN P M TR P X IMP VII , across field S C, Commodus togate standing left, over tripod altar and holding scroll, COS IIII P P in exergue, (cf.S.5833, RIC 454a, C.990, BMC 564) (illustrated); another, (27.01 g), rev. Libertas left, (S.5766, RIC 1588-1590); another, (22.35 g), rev. Fides right, (RIC 403); another, (20.48 g), rev. Commodus seated left, (S.5782, RIC 463).
