Augustus, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver cistophorus, Ephesus mint, issued 28-27 B.C., (11.82 g), obv. laureate head of Octavian to right, around IMP CAESAR DIVI F [COS VI L]IBERTATIS P R VINDEX, rev. PAX in field to left, Pax standing half left on parazonium or torch, right hand holding caduceus, in field to right a snake emerging from cista mystica, all within laurel wreath, (S.1533, RIC 476, C.218, BMC 691). Lightly toned, struck slightly off centre on obverse, very fine or better, and very scarce.
