Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochos VIII (Grypos), (121-96 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.25 g), Damascus mint, first reign, issued 120/119 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochos VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left, holding star and sceptre, on right **BASILEOS and ANTIOXOY and to left **EPI FANOUS*, to left AP over **ES*, in exergue date **G*qP = 193 = 120/119 B.C., all within laurel wreath border, (cf.S.7143, SC 2321.2b, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 2646, Newell LSM 90, HGC 9, 1196e). Toned, very fine and scarce.
