Syria, Kingdom of, Alexander I Balas, (150-145 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.93 g), undated issued but issued 147/6 B.C., Antioch mint on the Orontes mint, obv. diademed head of Alexander I to right, dotted border, rev. naked Apollo Delphos seated to left, on an omphalos, holding an arrow in extended right hand and resting a bow in his left hand, on either side **BASILEWS ALEXANDROU QEOPATOROS [KAI] EUERGETOU*, in exergue **ADR* and uncertain monogram, (cf.S.7035, SC 1785.12b var., HGC 9, 887a). Toned, nearly extremely fine, very rare and unpublished as an unlisted variety.
