Caria, uncertain, (c.500-450 B.C.), silver hemidrachm (tetrobol?), (2.85 g), obv. winged male figure in kneeling/running stance to left, raising his right hand; before, Carian symbol. rev. lion standing left, head turned back to right and raising his right forepaw; above, Carian symbol; all within round incuse area, (S.-, CNG E-Auction 392 (2017) [lot 291]; SNG Ashmolean 329; Leu Numismatik web Auction 15, 27 February 2021 [lot 556] same dies realised $2200 CHF). Rare, toned example of this interesting issue, the obverse struck slightly off centre, otherwise, nearly very fine.
