Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.89 g), issued 131-2 B.C., obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, to left a winged caduceus, legend across **A QE POLU XARM NIKOG DHMO SOS, ME below, A on amphora, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 378b). Lightly toned, struck on a full flan, good very fine and very rare.
