Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.90 g), Damascus mint, issued c.330-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left the forepart of a ram right, dotted struts between legs of throne, **DA* below, **ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6713, Price 3203). Old cabinet toning, struck slightly off centre on the obverse, nearly very fine and scarce.
