Sicily, Syracuse, Time of Hiketas II, (c.287-278 B.C.), AE 23 (8.48 g), obv. wreathed head of Persephone to right, wearing wreath of grain ears, grain stalk behind, rev. charioteer in biga galloping right, star above, **PC* below, (S.1210, HGC 2, 1447 [dated 287-278 B.C.]. BMC 457, SNG ANS 763 var, [monogram] and X in exergue). Brown patina, extremely fine, rare.

Ex Kurpfalzische Munzhandlung, Mannheim, Germany with ticket marked 650 DM.
Some scholars place it during the reign of Agathokles, others during the Republican period that followed, and still others during the reign of Hiketas. Here we have chosen to take the issue to Hiketas.
