World tokens and checks, includes issues of Australia (8), Great Britain (14), noted check for Vickers Ltd, Barrow (shipbuilders and engineers) impressed '1305/SDS', also three communion tokens for South Leith Parish church, numbered 1, 2 and 3; various world items (19), noted Panama Canal 30673 employee check, marked at top by maker 'AM.RY.S.CO.N.Y.' (American Railway Supply Company New York). Poor - extremely fine. (41)
Note: The Panama Canal Company was established in 1914 by US Congress to maintain and operate the canal, replacing the Isthmian Canal Commission after it was abolished on 1 April 1914. These Panama Canal checks continued to be issued until photo ID checks were instituted in July 1918.
