ZAMBIA, proof gold 10,000 kwacha, 2002, error denomination reads '1000'. One of nine errors struck, FDC.

Zambia in 2002 produced a legal tender series of .999 proof gold coins (a sovereign size 10,000 kwacha and a half sovereign size six thousand kwacha). All were produced at Valcambi Mint, Switzerland. A major numismatic error/pattern was discovered when Valcambi accidently produced ten of the 10,000 kwacha coins bearing the denomination '1000' kwacha. The die was discarded and a new correct die produced, however there remains nine error coins in private hands. This is one example.
