India, Sultans of Bengal, Da'ud Shah Kararani (A.H. 980-984, A.D. 1572-1576), silver rupees, various dates mostly off flan, Patna mint mm swastica (4), Satgaon mint mm knot pattern (5), Tanda mint mm star (4) includes a variant (Flynn notes Not Tanda) (illustrated), (G&G B 988-982, p.262). The Kararanis were Afghans who became powerful under the Suris. Two brothers initially held provincial governorships. This ruler was the younger brother of Bayazid who died in 980, (he was successor of Sulaiman), who from 980 issued coins from the three mints.
