Trio: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. Capt. Revd. H.S.P.Coster 3rd S.A.M.R. on first medal, Rev. H.S.P.Coster on last two medals. The first and last medals impressed, the second medal renamed and engraved. Swing mounted, first ribbon damaged, tone spot on first medal and some contact marks on last two medals, otherwise very fine.
Together with South African Defence Force brass cap badge.
Captain (Rev) Herbert Stanley Porter Coster was an Anglican priest, appointed on 03Mar1915; Served as Chaplain to 6th Mounted Brigade under General Lukin; left the Union Defence Force 28Jul1915 and subsequently served as Chaplain in the Royal Army Chaplains' Department.
Captain (Rev) H.S.P.Coster's son served in the AIF. Arthur William Coster, stockman, age 30, born at Stamford Hill, Middlesex, London; Enl.10Jul1915 in 29Bn, AIF under Service No.207; stated NOK as his father, Revd H.S.P.Coster, Cathedral Staff, Bloemfontein, Sth Africa; Emb.10Nov1915; to Cpl 20Oct1916; WIA 23Nov1916 GSW right arm; RTA 11Jan1918; Disch.08Apr1918; in 1923 requested that his last medal be forwarded c/- Canon Coster at St Margaret's Rectory, Bloemfontein, Sth Africa.
