Pair to KIA: Korea Medal 1950-53; United Nations Korea Medal 1950-53. 1/1134 K.J.Lyons. The first medal impressed, the second engraved. Swing mounted, the first medal with some lacquer residue on top left edge of obverse and the second medal with some dark toning, otherwise fine - very fine.
Entitled to the US Presidential Unit Citation for Battle of Kapyong.
Kenneth John Lyons, born 15Mar1929 at Maryborough, Fraser Coast Region, Qld; enlisted as a Private in RA Infy Corps; served in Korea with 3RAR 28Sep1950-31Aug1951; KIA 31Aug1951 at age 22, drowned alongside 11271 Lance Corporal N.A.Siebenhausen while they were on patrol and attempting to cross the Imjin River; Buried at United Nations Memorial Cemetery at Tanggok, Busan, South Korea; commemorated on the War Memorial at Ferguson Street Reserve, Manly, Brisbane, Qld and at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
