Alfred Francis Tucker, labourer, age 28, born at Ballarat, Vic; Enl.27May1915 at Keswick, Sth Aust; Emb.02Sep1915; to ops at Egypt and Gallipoli with MEF; TOS 50 Bn 27Feb1916; WIA 14Aug1916, left leg broken and right breast with shrapnel, France and taken POW at Reservelaz Berg Kaserne, Munster, Westphailia, Germany; trf to Heilsberg Lager, East Prussia about 29Jul1917; Escaped but re-captured after a month on the run - advised by postcard dated 09Jun1918 from Heilsberg that he and a comrade 'had lost everything in a vain attempt to get through Russia' and they were now back in the POW camp after a 'months holiday'; Repatriated 09Dec1918; RTA 06Sep1919; Disemb.18Oct1919; Disch.19Nov1919; Died 21Nov1951 at Adelaide, Sth Aust; Buried at West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, Sth Aust.
