H.J.Renny. 4/Bn. A.I.F. on last three medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted, second and third ribbons with toning, medals toned, otherwise good very fine - extremely fine.

WWI: Hugh James Renny, farmer, age 45, born at Perthshire, Scotland; Enl.31Aug1914 at Sydney, NSW; Emb.20Oct1914; served in Egypt and Gallipoli; WIA GSW upper and lower jaw and missing 19Sep1915 at Gallipoli; in Military Hospital at Malta 24May1915; in hospital in England 26Oct1915; RTA 07Nov1915 on S.S.Runic; Disch.16Feb1916.

In 1900 Hugh James Renny was a tea planter from Jal Pai Guri in India. His wife was a member of the Lumsden's Horse Fund Raising Committee and was at the Ladies Ball held at Calcutta in January 1900 to raise funds for the contingent. Her husband sailed to South Africa with A Coy Lumsden's Horse on the ship 'Atlantia'. In December 1900 Hugh Renny, along with many others from Lumsden's Horse, joined the Johannesburg Military Mounted Police.
