Severus Alexander, (A.D.222-235), AE As, issue struck at Rome in 231-235, (9.28 g), obv. IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, bust laureate to right of Severus Alexander draped and cuirassed, rev. around PROVIDENTIA AVG, S C across the field, Providentia standing facing head to left, holding two corn-ears over modius and cornucopiae, (S.8014, RIC 642, C.503) (illustrated); another, issued 229, (11.64 g), rev. emperor in triumphal quadriga right, holding eagle tipped sceptre, S C in ex, (S.8080, RIC 498,C 379); dupondius, issued 224, (11.19 g), rev. Emperor standing left in military dress, holding globe and spear, (cf.S.8010, RIC 434, C 274); another, issued 231, (10.70 g), rev. Annona standing left, holding corn-ears and anchor, modius at feet, (cf.S.8000, RIC 519). Toned, good fine - nearly extremely fine. (4)
