Septimus Severus, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius, struck 197, (2.76 g), obv Laureate head right, around SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP VIIII, rev. around PROFECTIO AVG, Emperor on horseback right, (S.6353, RIC 106, RSC 580) (2); another, issued 200, (3.4 g), obv. laureate head right around SEVERVS AVG, rev. around, VIRT AVGG, Virtus standing left, holding Victory in right hand, spear and shield in left, (S.6387, RIC 171a, RSC 761, BMC 211); another, issued 201, (3.72 g), obv. laureate head right, around SEVERVS PIVS AVG, rev. around PART MAX P M TR P VIIII, two Parthian captives chained at the base of a trophy, (cf.S.6323, RIC 176, RSC 370).
