Henry III, (1216-1272), silver penny, long cross issue, class 3b, issued 1248-1250, HEN/RI O/N NE/WEC, (1.39 g), rev. Newcastle Mint, (S.1363, N.987). Extremely fine portrait, weak in places on the legend, with attractive golden tone, rare.
Ex Mark E. Freehill Collection, from Noble Numismatics Sale 60 (lot 3618) and from the Richard Cyril Lockett collection and probably from the sale at Glendining's November 4-6 1958 (lot 2985 part) and with Dave Hess, Baton Rouge Louisiana envelope.
